So Happy to be Home Again!
I'm home! My last post wasn’t intended to signal a hiatus, but these things happen and before I knew it my Bulgaria trip was over! I’ve been back for about a week now and it’s been lovely rediscovering my house, my friends, and giving lots of cuddles to my little dog. After taking a few days to recharge and catch my breath, I’ve feeling fully rested and ready to write... but somehow despite the fact I have so much I want to talk about and share, the days continue to go by and I’ve written nothing! So in order to get back into the swing of blogging I think it’s important to just start somewhere instead of waiting for the perfect time to write the perfect post. As with my very first post, the best thing to do is just begin!
In honor of my travels (and the hardship that can present to our delicate complexions), I want to share a lovely bit of skincare I discovered while in Bulgaria. I am a big fan of Korean skincare and sheet masks in general. I’ve always been aware that sheet masks come in different shapes and sizes for targeted masking of specific areas, but I figured if I’m going to use a sheet mask I might as well do my whole face so I’ve never bothered looking at the other options. However, while in Bulgaria I noticed my undereye area was looking a little extra dehydrated and creased- I’m sure a combination of the long haul flight and not being as hydrated as I normal try to be. So I went to a pharmacy and picked up these little collagen under-eye sheet masks by Purederm!
My sister was actually the one to recommend them to me, and I have to say that after trying them out I am a total convert. Full face sheet masks are still absolutely fantastic, but when you don’t have time (or energy) for a proper face pampering session, these little babies are low effort but make a big difference. At first I used them just at night before bed, but I’ve recently also tried them in the morning while having tea, and they work great either way. I’m really pleased with their effect on my undereye area. Like any sheet mask, their goal is to give extra hydration to the skin to plump it up and improve the appearance of fine lines. A boost in hydration always improves the appearance of skin, but I think in the delicate eye area where the skin is so thin to begin with, extra hydration really makes a noticeable difference.
I wash my wash as normal, apply my hyaluronic acid serum (including to the eye area, it doesn’t bother me), then apply eye cream lightly to the top lid. I then put the patches on, and carefully apply my snail face cream to the rest of my face. I leave them on until they are quite dry to the touch, roughly 30-40 minutes or so, then I remove them and follow with my beloved Mizon Snail Sleeping Pack on top to really seal in the moisture. If it’s morning, I let my cream sink in a bit before continuing as normal with sunscreen and makeup!
Even though I bought these in Bulgaria, the same exact ones are available on Amazon so I’m really happy to have discovered a new product that I like and can easily obtain. At $3.39 for 2 packs of 30 (so 30 applications) it’s not bad at all! Their ease of use (and the fact that they’re a bit less startling in appearance than a full face mask) means I’m more likely to use them regularly, which can only mean good things for my eyes! Very happy to have given these a try, because they're definitely going to be a regular part of my skincare routine now.
