Five Days Using Only One Palette!

This week I've been using only the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette; I wanted to try to do a different look with it each day. I tend to do my makeup the same way every day (I just change up the colors), but I think I've managed to get some fairly varied results. This palette contains both mattes and shimmers: the top row and one shade on the bottom are the mattes, while the rest are shimmery. My rule was to only use the eyeshadows in this palette- no other eyeshadows or palettes allowed. If you enjoy this week long one-palette post, please leave me a comment to let me know!

~Monday~

I started out the week feeling a bit lazy. I applied Strip Poker to my lid, a bit of Cashmere Bunny in the crease for definition, and a bit of Sexpresso swept along the lashline to give the illusion of fuller lashes. Usually I like to use gel liner and do a wing, but Monday was a low key day so darkening the lashline a bit was enough for me (although I have to confess every time I caught a glimpse of my reflection I kept wanting to add a wing!) I kept this eye all matte and didn't do any inner corner highlight the way I normally would.

~Tuesday~

On Tuesday I wanted a light matte eye again but a little more glam than Monday's. I went for Heaven all over my lid, Cashmere Bunny in the crease (but placed a bit higher than usual to open up my eyes more), and Sexpresso as a liner. I didn't place any shadow in the outer corner or darken up the other V at all- mostly I just wanted to keep it really light and natural. I didn't have to wet my brush in order to use Sexpresso as a liner, I just dipped my dry angled brush into the pan and carefully swept it along my lashline in the winged shape. It's quite a pigmented shadow so it works very well  even when used to create a soft diffused wing. Lastly I added a touch of Silk Teddy to the inner corners of my eyes to make me look more awake.

~Wednesday~

On Wednesday I decided to use more of the shimmers. I used the matte Strip Poker all over my lid, although that was mostly to act as a base and aid in blending. I then applied Honey Pot over my entire lid, blending it out into the crease a fair bit and pulling it into the inner corner as well so that it served as a highlight as well. I then applied Chocolate Martini to the outer third of my eye, blending it into Honey Pot and a little bit into the crease but mostly keeping it concentrated in the outer V area. I also put a little bit of Chocolate Martini on my outer lower lash line. I then used Erotica as my liner shade, creating a soft wing with my angled liner brush. Overall this ended up being a lot bronzier and darker than I thought it would, but still pretty (although maybe a bit much for early morning preschool dropoff.)

~Thursday~

On Thursday I decided to go for a lighter shimmery look. I used Silk Teddy all over my lid, pulling it down into the inner corner. I then applied Push-Up to the outer third of my eye and I used Erotica to darken and intensify the outer V. Lastly I used a touch of Strip Poker in my crease to blend out the super shimmery Silk Teddy so that the gradient would be a little smoother. For eyeliner I used my favorite brown L'Oreal gel liner in the color Espresso instead of using eyeshadow as liner as I did in the days before. In photos this look seems pretty similar to the one from Wednesday, but it's definitely much lighter in person and much less smoky. I think that's because Silk Teddy is a pale shimmery pink that reflects a lot of light while Honey Pot is a deeper bronzey brown that pulls darker on the eyelid, especially when a darker shadow is added in the corner and crease.

~Friday~

Today I didn't really have a plan, I just started light and built up the colors until I was happy with it- I ended up using all the shades but two! To start I applied Heaven all over my lid. Then I put Strip Poker in the crease, keeping it nice and high to create the illusion of wider open eyes. I then took Cashmere Bunny and blended it into the outer third of my eyelid for a bit of a definition, bringing it up into the crease as well. I placed Sexrepresso in the out V to darker that outer corner a bit more. At this point, I put aside the eyeshadow to apply my L'Oreal gel liner in the color Blackest Black. I love this liner, it gives me more control than liquid liner but a sharper line than pencil liner- it's like the best of both worlds and a pot of it lasts forever! I also really like the eyeliner brush that is included with the gel liner, it works really well for me. It might be a little hard to tell from the photo but I didn't flick out the wing as high as I usually do, instead I kept the flick shorter and sloping down a bit. This winged eyeliner style is called the "puppy-eye" and is more popular in Asian makeup styles as opposed to the beloved Western "cat-eye" wing. It definitely gives a softer look!

Once my eyeliner was to my liking, I swept a bit of Honey Pot on my lower eyelid quite close to the lashline. This is a shimmery shade so it adds a nice bit of sparkle and again, helps further the illusion of more open/awake eyes. To balance out the darkness in the outer corner of my upper eyelid, I placed a tiny bit of dark brown shimmery Chocolate Martini in the outer corner of my lower eyelid, again quite close to the lashline and blended it out softly into Honey Pot. A touch of Silk Teddy in the inner corner as my highlight, and I was done! I basically ended up doing a mostly matte eye but strategically using the shimmery shades to make my eyes look brighter and more awake without turning the entire look shimmery. Today I also used the Cover FX custom enhancer drops in the color Moonlight as my highlight, so I dabbed those on my cheekbones, right under my eyebrows, and a touch on the cupid's bow of my lips. I really like this liquid highlighter, I used just one drop for my whole face and I find the effect really pretty and fairly natural. It also doesn't seem to emphasize pores or skin texture issues as much as powder highlighters sometimes can, which is always a relief! I got these drops in a Sephora Play box and I'm pretty sure I'll be repurchasing them when I use up my travel size bottle (althought it might be a while because a little of these goes such  a long way.)

And that's the whole week! Looking back it looks like I used every single shade in the Natural Eyes  palette at least once, although some shades were more frequently used than others. Silk Teddy, Strip Poker and Cashmere Bunny were some I reached for repeatedly. With a neutral palette the focus is usually less "bam! notice my makeup!" and more "let me create something subtle but beautifying", so none of the looks I achieved are all that flashy but I think (hope!) that they were pretty. :) The fact that this palette has a mix of mattes and shimmers does make it a touch more versatile than it's all-matte sister palette, but as I said before, I really do adore both of them!

  1. My favorite is Wednesday because it’s glamours and chic. Also, there’s no such thing as a bit much for early morning preschool dropoff 😉 The pink top you’re wearing on Wednesday is so pretty too!!

    1. Thank you! 😊 The nice things about neutral colors is that even if you go a little bit more intense than you intended, it still works! The pink top is by Roxy but it’s really old haha. I like the brocade pattern. 💕
